What Category to Enter in
a Business Award
They forget to consider what the judges are actually looking for when judging a business award!
1. If the category is size specific, then you need to discuss the size of your business
and how it has affected your marketing strategy.
2. In the MCEI business award, if you are considering entering one of the special
categories of HBB, Women, Ethnic or Youth, demonstrate how your business supports these groups and some of the
problems you experienced and solutions that you provided, via your marketing strategy.
3. You must enter in either category 1, 2, 3 or 4. You may choose to enter into a
sub-category (5, 6 or 7) if you wish.
Categories Available in the MCEI Business
Award
1)Micro (employing less than 5)
2)Home Based Business (HBB) where the business is not run from an
external premises. It is run from a home base.
3)Small (employing 5 – 20)
4)SME (employing 21 – 100)
Sub-Categories
5)Ethnic (marketing strategy implemented by someone
whose first language is not English)
6)Women (marketing strategy implemented by a female)
7)Youth (marketing strategy implemented by a person 25 years of age or
under)
